So very true! It sickens me that I once held a similar viewpoint for those that weren't JW's...I am thankful I seen the light!
Sorry for your pain, you are among friends.

i wanted to say thank you to the wbts for enforcing a 'no-contact' rule on all those that have left the organization.. only by experiencing first-hand my former best-friends treating me like a complete stranger (see 'garbage') for standing up for my own beliefs was i finally able to tell the society 'good-bye' forever and not feel guilty about it.. i know this was not the wbts's intention from the alienation practice.
it's intention was to make me feel guilty and lonely enough to come back to them.
however, it has backfired on them and finally given me my freedom.. thank you, society, for lacking kindness and understanding.
Well said David, I second that!
Welcome to the board!

prompted by the thread about jwd v wts i wondered how many of you found jwd via the internet or friends/partners?
what were your first impressions?
i found this site through besty (husband) once my faith had crumbled after reading www.jwfacts.com.
A good friend of mine sent me and my brother the link...I read it without registering for a couple of years (off and on). I didn't have the courage to join but I saved the email for about 3- 4 years. A few things happened with my family and I decided to join. One of the best things I ever did!

i am a bit of a yo yo dieter - i have been dieting ever since i was a teenager, and my role model for this was my mom of course.
in fact one of my very early memories of going shopping with mom and her buying a diet shake mix.
well... i have a little girl who is almost three and i have been thinking about things and i really need to break this cycle of crash diets, losing 5 kgs and picking up 10 once i have lost motivation.
Congrats to you for wanting to have a healthier lifestyle and be a healthy weight! I know this program really does work so stick to it and before too long you will be sooo happy you did!

after six years of hiding from them.. the same elder and wife have found me.
they have taken to writing to me, sending me stuff in the mail.
Yes I think a sign on the door would be good and return all the mail you receive.
I'm sorry for you!

has this economy been very tough on you and your family???.
how are you coping with high gas prices and the cost of living?
?.
I'm just starting my own company so of course I have no income at the moment.
My husband does well but I hate feeling like I don't contribute so I do my part to ensure the lights are not left on, the heat is down etc. I try to find sales and buy lots of cheaper food for meals. We used to eat out all the time but we are definately cutting back on that now.
Of course when my company takes off (I refuse to think any other way) then I will be contributing again so I'm looking forward to that!

i was hoping that title would draw you in!
i was just thinking this morning about a lot of the judicial meetings i was in over the years.
i was remembering how, if it involved immorality and a good looking sister, it would not be unusual for one of the elders to comment on that.
I remember when I had my JC, the elders were asking really innappropriate questions, and really perverted. The details they were asking for made my skin crawl! I told them that I didn't think it was appropriate to ask for that kind of detail b/c when I first started talking I laid it all out on the table and I hadn't actually had sex. I mean, I told them what I had done in no uncertain terms and really, I didn't leave anything out. The one elder started yelling at me saying I was showing an unrepentant attitude and I had better watch it etc. That shut me up and I just answered all of their questions anyways despite the fact that alot of them had nothing to do with what I had done. I never could look at those elders in the eye again, I was really embarrased and felt violated. Gross. It makes me angry now, not embarrased.

when i was a teen, i aspired to be an elder.
from my pre-teens until i was 18, i was in every circuit assembly and district convention----having either ministry school talks or parts or experiences.
at 20, i conducted a bookstudy in the afternoon, also regular pioneered, was the theocratic ministry school overseer in the 2nd school and regularly taught the main school.
Thanks for sharing Minimus. I'm so glad you are here rather than there!!
